Nintendo has released new merchandise inspired by the little Korok race from THE Legend of Zelda series in Japan. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The collection consists of various types of items based on Korok masks. It includes a set of uchiwa fans, mesh tote bag, hand towel, tumbler, elastic hair bands and small pouches. Item prices range from 770 yen (~ $ 7) to 3,300 yen (~ $ 30).
Korok merchandise items are immediately available for purchase from the My Nintendo Store online store in Japan. Some items even sold out within hours of opening. Although Nintendo also has plans to physically sell the items to Nintendo Tokyo, the store is currently closed due to the coronavirus state of emergency.
Korok is a breed of small wooden figures known to wear sheet masks. They first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker like Kokiris who had transformed. Koroks are currently best known for their appearances in Breath of the wild. In the last main line Zelda game released to date, finding the hidden Koroks would help Link expand his inventory. They also returned for a similar purpose in BoTWthe action game of, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker received an HD version for the Wii U in 2013. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity are immediately available on Nintendo Switch.
